Choosing a Contractor Choose a contractor who is properly licensed. State and County licensing boards require that contractors that do roof waterproofing have a ROOFING CONTRACTORS LICENSE, not a painting or waterproofing license. Unfortunately, in South Florida many contractors do jobs they are not qualified or licensed to do. If you want your roof painted, you can hire a painting contractor, but if you're going to waterproof your roof, you are required to hire a licensed roofing contractor. Choose a contractor with a proven track record. What good is a ten year warranty if the company is no longer in business when you have a problem? This is a common predicament in which the homeowner finds himself in South Florida. Kane Coatings began as a roof painting business in 1975, and has specialized in roof waterproofing since 1979.
